Good morning my lovely readers! I am currently on my way to Daytona for Brain Bowl. It’s a sort of team jeopardy competition.
I had to wake up at 4:00 this morning. That was not fun. I’m glad I was able to do my hair, though. I did a pull-thu crown braid. Maybe I’ll post a picture later.
As the post title says, I do not enjoy waking up early. I love mornings, I just don’t like getting up for them. My Starbucks isn’t helping.
My waking up early made me think of a Bible story. In this story, three women wake up early in the morning to visit Jesus’ tomb. It is as follows:
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”
Matthew 28:1-10 NIV
Now, I don’t think you’re going to wake up early to see an angel. But we do need to wake up early for Jesus. We need to meet him in the morning and spend time with him. After all, that we do in the morning influences the rest of our day. If we start with God, he will guide us through the day.
I know we’re not perfect. There will be mornings where you sleep in or simply forget. And God loves you anyway despite that. But at least try. And ask God to help you. I know I have to.
So read a few verses this morning. Tomorrow morning. Make it a trend. You’ll like the changes.
